Blast from the past!

 My roommates and I hosted a decades dance party last weekend and it was a blast from the past! We invited people from our ward and our good friends to come over and dance the night away to Kelsi's awesome oldies music. Of course we dressed up and encouraged others to do the same.

Here we are pre-dance doing some great dance moves. Meesh dressed up from the 80's, I was 50's and Kelsi and Court dressed up from the 60's/70's.

It was such a fun night and we had a really great turn out. I'm already wanting to have another one because dancing + dressing up = a guaranteed good time!

Go Cougs!

On Saturday I went to the BYU homecoming game. It was a black out so we all wore black and the team had sweet new jerseys that were back and blue. I went with Alissa and her roommates Roxy and Courtney. It was actually a pretty exciting and fun game to watch until the 4th quarter when we lost it. But I'm still proud to say that I'm a true blue BYU cougar.

Ceramics Update

Here are some sneak peaks of my latest ceramic pieces. I will post more about them when I can bring them home and take pictures. 

My final sculpture: It had to be at least 20" and it had to combine aspects of a past project and someone elses' project.

My recreation of a man-made object: I decided to make a pie out of clay. I think it turned out pretty cool.

Life Lately

Life has been so great lately. I am so blessed to be surrounded by such awesome people. My friends and family seriously are the best. I love them.

Monday night we discovered that Michelle had a dress-up box and I found some favorite things inside, such as the cat hat and the silky robe. I just need to find an opportunity to wear them.

On Monday night I was visited by Greg and Liss, which was fun to see them and then I got a visit from a gorilla that scared me sooooo badly! I had received cereal with a note that said: To Megan, From: Gorilla. I wasn't sure what that was supposed to mean until I opened the door to a knock and a gorilla jumped out of the darkness and growled at me. I screamed and ran across the room. You could say that he got me. The gorilla turned out to be Mark and then Jessie came up to the door as well. It was pretty hilarious. I felt honored to be the first to be scared by the gorilla costume.

I went to the Farmer's Market at the stadium last week with my roommates and this week with Meesh and Jessie and bought some delicious pears, apples, plums and zucchini. Then I cooked that zucchini and ate it with cheese tortelini. It was pretty delicious if I do say so myself.

On Thursday they were having Harry Potter Day at the Pendulum Court Cafe on campus so naturally Jessie, Mark, Alissa and I went together and it was AWESOME! They had it decorated perfectly and they had food in honor of the books. I ate Avada Kadavra Apple Pie for dessert and it was delicious. They had butter beer that included actual butter in it...not our favorite. It was a magical experience.

General Conference

Last weekend was General Conference for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I was extremely grateful for the opportunity to hear from modern-day prophets and gain insights and guidance from them. I especially loved the news about the mission age changes for both men and women. What a blessing!

Michelle and I were lucky enough to attend both Sunday sessions. We drove to Salt Lake and stood with signs that said "2 tickets please" and both times random people gave us two tickets so we could enjoy the conference in the center. It was awesome. We also got to spend time with her grandparents, who were such gracious hosts, and her parents who were in town for conference. It was a lovely weekend. Here is the link to listen to General Conference. I would highly recommend it.

My roommates discovered "magic shakes" that you can get at Maverick gas stations so naturally we all had to go back to try them out. It's pretty cool and delicious. You pick which kind you want out of the freezer (I got reeses peanut butter cup) and then you put it into this machine and it lifts up the shake into the machine and it blends it up magically into a drinkable milkshake (you can pick the thickness). Then it lowers the shake down and you drink it with really big straws. I would recommend it not only for the shake but also for the experience.

p.s. Today was a great day because I was super productive. I rocked my Human Development test, finished my clay sculpture, went to class, did homework and celebrated with my roomies. Life is good.

Mama Melissa Came to Town!

I was so excited for my mom to come visit because I hadn't seen her since May and I felt like I hadn't been able to really talk to her since then either since our schedules were so different this Summer. It was so great to have her here because she is so fun and she takes such good care of me. It was fun to show her a small taste of my daily life here.

The girlies (minus emily) are back together!

On Tuesday night we met up with Greg and Liss for dinner and then we went up to Aspen Grove so I could show mom where I worked this summer. The canyon is absolutely gorgeous right now with all of the changing leaves. 

Then we went to Sundance for some hot chocolate. It was fun to visit in such a pretty place.

On Wednesday night my mom took me and my roommates and Jessie and her roommates out to The Chocolate for dessert. It was delicious and I'm glad you could finally taste it mom!

On Thursday night Greg and Liss came down to Provo and we had a progressive dinner. We started out at a place called Cranky Chuckies and it was kind of a funny place, but their nachos were soooo good. I will definitely be back for some more of those. Then we went to Black Sheep Cafe for some really delicious navajo tacos. I would highly recommend it. Then we hit if farrs for dessert, of course. It was such a fun way to make dinner last a little longer so we could spend more time together. I would highly recommend all of the places we went to.

Then on Friday, us kids told our mom that we were all busy that night so we wouldn't be able to see her until Saturday sometime. But really we surprised her at a condo in Park City and we celebrated her birthday with all of her sisters and we ate delicious food, told fun stories and just had a blast. I'm glad that we could surprise her :)

My Aunt Merry's wedding veil made an appearance a couple times. Who knows who'll wear it next?

Cousin Rachel, Jessie and I participated in all the typical sleep over activities. I love them both dearly.

I sure loved having you here. You are so great to talk to and our talk was just what I needed. Love you bunches!

Piano Guys and Chicken Pot Pie

A couple of weekends ago I went to a concert for the Piano Guys with my roommate Michelle a.k.a. Meesh. It was so great. Stephen Sharp Nelson and Jon Schmidt were so in to their music and you could tell that they loved what they were doing. Afterwards we went to Roll it Up for delicious crepes. Definitely a great Saturday night.

Then on Sunday Meesh and I made a chicken pot pie from scratch. It was deeelicious despite accidentally adding 4 tsp of baking powder instead of 1/4 tsp.

we're so domestic :)
