Hello family!!!!

 

You all sound great! glad that everyone is happy, safe and healthy despite the extreme cold that's been hitting the US. I'm thankful that it hasn't been too cold here in Korea. Also thankful for all of the warm layers that I can wear the stay warm haha

 

I had another great week here. We had a combined district meeting this week and it was super great. I learned things and felt the spirit in the exact ways that I needed to to help me carry on the missionary work. The spirit is the best :)

 

This week we continued to meet with our investigators and kim ju eon is still doing well. She came to church again on Sunday and loved it as always. She had a little bit of a hard week with friends and stuff, but she finds a lot of peace and comfort from meeting with us and coming to church. She always talks about how she wants to feel clean again, so the gospel is exactly what she is looking for! She is a talker so sometimes it is hard to focus during lessons, but we are meeting again with her on Tuesday and hopefully will be able to set a baptismal date for her and teach her more about the plan of salvation. keep her in your prayers!

 

This week one of our ward members that always helped us in lessons and would invite us over and things like that moved to a different ward so we are sad about that! She was always so great to introduce to investigators because she would invite them over and share her testimony so well. Her name is an me sook and we will definitely miss her!! we went to her house this week to say goodbye and give her some brownies and notes that we wrote to her.

 

Also, one of our favorite investigators sin dong hyeon told us that she is moving to seol for three months to live with her mom so we are sad about that...but there was a little tender mercy that came along with the sad news. She has always had a job on sundays so she could never come to church, but she is quitting her job to move and one of the first things she told us is that she can come to church now and she was really excited about it! I hope that she will meet with missionaries still and seol and continue to progress and then when she comes back to gwang ju we can meet again :)

 

Other than that, nothing really new happened this week...life is great and I just want to work hard and be the missionary and persone that our Savior wants me to be :) This week when I was studying something that really stuck out to me was a talk that Elder Nelson gave in 2011 fen conference. He said that the greatest compliment one can receive is to be known as a covenant keeper. I've been thinking a lot about that recently. I want to be known as a covenant keeper. I hope that you all will remember the covenants that you have made with our heavenly Father and He will bless you!!!

Week 34

Hello family dear!

 

It's been another great week here in Korea :) We met some new investigators that I am really excited about! I really really hope that they will be able to progress and accept the gospel because I know that it will bless them so much and I know it's what they are looking for.

 

So there is kim ju eon and she is 20 years old. I talked a little bit about her last email. But she is AWESOME!!! I love her so much. We met with her on Tuesday, wednesday, saturday and sunday...so cool. She came to church again and loved it again. She loves that she has friends here in the church and this is what she has been looking for. She has had kind of a hard life and the gospel offers all that she wants. She honestly just wants to have a happy family and she wants a new start to her life. Luckily those are things that the gospel of Jesus Christ was made for :) Last night we went to a member's house and did family home evening with her and the family. It was super fun and the member, an me sook, was able to share about her conversion story and it was perfect. She doesn't have a baptismal date yet, but she says that she wants to be baptized and to diligently keep coming to church. how cool is that?! She is definitely one of those prepared people that I feel so honored and happy to have met. We taught her the first lesson and she said that she thought that it made sense and she believes it. I pray that she will continue to progress and find the true happiness that she is looking for in the gospel. Today we hung out with her and a member who is the same age as her and it was way fun. we got ice cream together and took pictures. I'm really excited for her. Keep her in your prayers!!

 

This week we also met a mother (me oak) and daughter (ga hay) that wanted to learn english together. They are like 50 and 30 years old. They are super super nice and the attend the catholic church, but they have a really open mind and have been really accepting of our message so far. When I first met them I felt like I had already known them before....I really really hope that they will be able to accept the gospel. We teach them on thursdays and fridays. The mother already knew a lot of good things about our church somehow and they are excited to read the book of mormon! It has been really exciting to meet these new people that have so much potential to grow in the gospel. I pray that they will be able to accept it because I know how happy it will make them. I  am excited to keep teaching them :)

 

Our other investigators are doing well, a lot of the people that we usually meet couldn't meet this week, but they are still doing well. Choi pa da (the girl with the baptismal date) went out of town this week, but we had dinner with her and members last week and it was good. They were all really excited for her baptism, so I think it will really happen. The date might have to change, but it should happen this transfer.

 

I'm so happy to be serving the Lord in Korea...it truly is such a once in a lifetime experience and I have met so many people that I love dearly. Thank you for all of your love and support!!! you all are the BEST!!!!! Keep up the good work! as we would say in korea...화이팅!!!!!!! (sounds like whiting, but is supposed to be like fighting and means keep it up!!!!)

p.s. funny moments from the week: so we were walking to try and find an apartment where a previous investigator lived and we were walking along this path along the highway and then all of the sudden the path ended up leading us onto the highway....ahhhh!!! all of the sudden cars were driving toward us. im sure it looked ridiculous to have these two girls walking on the highway. We quickly made it safely back  to the path though hehe

 

also right after that we were waiting at a bus stop and then a man walked up to me and just took out a pen and started writing on a piece of paper that I was holding without saying anything to me. He wrote his name and number and then said that he met the missionaries last year to learn english and wanted to start meeting again and then he gave us his picture that he had in his wallet and told us that the elders would remember his picture. So now I have a bunch of these little pictures of this random man haha it was funny.

 

Life is full of little funny moments like that...it's great. Love you all!!!!!

Hello Family!!!!

 

I'm glad to hear that you all are surviving the weird cold weather in America. People here have been telling us about how America has been freezing ad that Niagra Falls froze because it has been so cold...crazy!!! It's been really cold this week, but we just bundle up more and head out :)

 

Transfer calls came and we are staying in our same area together so Sister Park and I will be together for another 6 weeks. There are a lot of people that are going to progress a lot this transfer I think and so they must need us together. I hope that we will be able to continue to work well together and see more miracles this next transfer!

 

This week we had some exciting things happen! First of all, we did splits this week and it was so much fun! I stayed in my area and another sister came-she is a greenie- and it was way fun to serve together. It helped to boost my confidence and realize that I really can do this :) And that people can understand my korean.

 

We also extended some baptismal invitiations and we have a baptismal date!!!!!! woohoo!!!! Her name is Choi Pada and she is 20 years old. She is a referral from our stake president. She is also bst friends with one of the girls in our ward, so it is awesome! we have been teaching her with her friend and she accepted a baptismal date for february 2nd. We are having dinner with her and the family in our ward tonight, so that should be good :) We are really excited for her!  She is super great and already had a lot of belief in God and Jesus Christ. she has been coming to church for about a month now, so she is practically already a member.

 

This week we also had a fun activity that the missionary planned to help our investigators and memebers meet each other in a non-pressure way. We played games and ate desserrt and shared a message about our church. It turned out o be really fun and successful. A girl ended up coming that the elders met and the referred her to us. She is 19 and she is super cute. She said that she wanted to come to church on Sunday so she came and then we were able to meet her last night and the gospel seems to be exaclty what she is looking for in her life. She says that all she really wants in this life is to get married and have a happy family. I'm expecting to see some more miracles with her this next transfer! Her name is kim ju eon.

 

We visited Beth yesterday and started talking about the temple with her to try to help her prepare to go the the temple and do baptisms there. I hope that she will larn to find the temple as a place of comfort. We also taught her about family home evening and she seemed to really like the idea.

Week 32

Hello Family!!!

 

Happy 2014!!! I can't believe that it's 2014...it deosn't feel like a new year at all to me, but that's okay :) We didn't do anything too crazy to celebrate the new year since we have to be in bed by 10:30, but we did buy some cake and eat it and toasted with some plastic wine cups before going to bed...that was the extent of our new years celebrations though. I feel like my mission is it's own "year" in itself so next year I'm sure it will feel more like a new year.

 

This week went by really quickly...I'm trying to remember what we did this week.

 

Beth received the gift of the holy ghost yesterday!!! woohoo! she is an official member of the church now. I was nervous beause they came really late to sacrament meeting so I was nervous that she wasn't going to show up, but it worked out fine. She was confirmed after the testimony meeting. I have been helping to translate for her during church so that has been interesting haha. Sometimes I have no idea what's going on, but I try my best :)

 

We continued to meet with our investigators this week. I don't feel like anything particularly special happened with our investigators this week. Lee so youg said that she will try to come to church with her family soon. She has been accepting our message really well so far and she always reads the book of mormon. We talked about baptism some with her this last week, but I think she will still need a little more time. She likes our church so far though! shin dong hyeon read a lot from the book of mormon this week, which was awesome! she is not sure about baptism right now though. She works on sundays so she can't come to church, but she wants to. I pray that she will have the opportunity to come to church soon. Also am praying that she will actually ask if the Book of Mormon is true when she prays. She is really awesome though! Choi Pa da is a girl that was a referral from our stake president. We have met with her 3 times so far and yesterday we taught her about the first vision and it went well. her friend is a member in our ward so her friend was at the lesson too. I think she will be able to accept baptism soon. She has a lot of belief in God and I know that this gospel will bless her life so much. She just needs to ask for herself :)

 

We met with jo un jeong this week and she brougt her daughter to the lesson on saturday. it was kind of ridiculous because they came in kind of fighting because they were late and were blaming eaech other for being late. It got to the point though that jo un jeong was bawling beause she has been having a really hard time with her family and feels really alone right now. I got to have a tender moment together with her where I could help to comfort her. I pray that her whole family will be able to accept the gospel because that's really what they need. If they live the gospel they will be able to avoid some of the issues that she is facing right now.

 

Nest week is transfer week! i'm really curious to see what is going to happen. I have mixed feelings about everything. I'll keep you posted though :)

 

I love you all!! Sorry this emial is kind of random. I'm thankful for the opportunity to be serving the Lord right now. One of my favorite things to do each day is put on my nametag. Definitely a privilege. I'm glad that you all had a great trip together. Looks like you had alot of fun!! this morning we went iceskating with kim sor bean (she is a recent convert that I love!!!!!) so that was really fun!
